Back to Questions   Do we need to bring beach towels ?
No, we provide them for you. As with other things we provide, our aim is to save your luggage.

Which are the best local beaches ?   How far are they ?
Many of our guests say that their favourite beach is 'El Palmar' and we agree. It also happens to be the closest at 11 km (about 8 miles) and is accessed from a local road. It is a natural Atlantic beach, backed by sand dunes and is 14 km long.
There are many kilometres of clean sandy beaches along this coast - some very simple - others more sophisticated in style. All of them are traditional Spanish ... small tapas bars and excellent seafood restaurants and miles of golden sand.

  Tell me about Car hire
There are many car hire companies that will arrange pick-up and return of a car to your airport of arrival. Prices can vary, so it pays to shop around. Most of the companies are reputable but check what insurance cover is included. Also check the availability of the extras you require (eg. roof rack). One company which is consistently competitive is:
All Inclusive Car Hire   -    www.all-inclusive-car-hire.com   but do check others.

Back to Questions Do you have facilities for Car parking ?
Vejer de la Frontera is an ancient pueblo blanco. The streets in the old town were designed for donkeys. They are narrow cobbled streets. In common with all accommodation in the old town, we do not have parking facilities immediately adjacent to our house.
Being on the south side of the town, however, we are fortunate to have parking facilities very close to us (200-300 metres). See our Town Plan to see where.
As an alternative, when you first arrive, you can park in the large car park (on the left as you arrive in the town) and get a taxi to bring you and your luggage to CASA SIN NOMBRE - it will cost no more than 2 - 3 euros. The walk back to your car (usually the following day) is a pleasant, downhill stroll, taking 5 - 6 minutes, introducing you to the sights of the old town.

  Do you take children ?
Unfortunately, we can only accept children of 12 years old or over.

  Food and Groceries
CASA SIN NOMBRE offers self catering accommodation - we do not provide any meals. However, when you arrive, you will find a welcome pack in your fridge with some simple items of food and drink. This is designed to save you from having to rush out to find a restaurant or supermarket after your tiring journey. It will also be sufficient for your first breakfast with us.

If you prefer to enjoy a restaurant meal on your first night with us, there are many excellent restaurants close by - most of which are open until after midnight. SEE Meals on arrival and Restaurants - below

Back to Questions   Do you offer access to the internet ?
Yes we do. We have a computer available for our guests to use at any time. We ask that a parent or other adult in the party takes responsibility for use by under 18's.
We are hopeful that we can soon make the house a 'hot spot' so that guests can access the internet from their own laptops.

How often do you provide a change of linen ?
We provide a clean set of linen every 3 - 4 days. As for towels, they can be changed every day if you wish but we try to operate in an environmentally responsible way. Therefore, if you hang your towels up after use, we will assume that you are happy to use them again.

Can we get a meal on arrival ?   ...   Are there any restaurants nearby ?
We provide a welcome pack for you when you arrive - SEE ABOVE under Food and Groceries.

There are many excellent restaurants and tapas bars within 5 minutes walk of our house.
Vejer is a real Spanish town and the majority of the restaurants cater for the local people and the local eating culture. In this part of Spain, people don't have their evening meal until after 9:00 pm. Even if you arrive late (11:00 pm is the latest arrival time at the house) you will be able to get a meal - up to midnight at least.

Can we bring our pet with us ?
We do not have facilities for pets of any kind.

Back to Questions   Are your apartments safe and secure ?
Yes they are. Every apartment has a safety deposit box which we strongly advise you to use for passports and small valuables.
Obviously, each apartment has a lockable entrance door. Again, we recommend that you lock your door at night and whenever you are out. We only use our pass key for servicing the apartment.  Even if you are relaxing on the sun terraces, we still advise locking your apartment because, in keeping with local tradition, the main entrance to the house is often open during the day.
All ground floor windows have traditional wrought iron grills, enabling you to safely leave your windows open.

Is there local shopping ? ... Is there a supermarket nearby ?
Within a few minutes walk, there are shops for all types of fresh food and groceries. The nearest good sized supermarket (Supersol) is about 8 - 9 minutes walk away in the new part of Vejer (SEE TOWN PLAN above under Parking). Vejer has all the shops and banks etc. you would expect in a small town. Within about 30 minutes by car, there are two Hypermarkets and a large modern shopping mall. There is excellent stylish shopping in Cádiz, Jerez and Seville and, of course, duty free shopping in Gibraltar.
NB.
Vejer and the local area are traditionally Spanish. All shops close for siesta between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm (most tapas bars remain open).

Back to Questions   What is the weather like at this time of year ?

As a simple general rule of thumb, the temperature is always 10°C warmer than in England. Between May and September, it is very unusual to have any rain. Because we are on the Atlantic coast, the sea is a couple of degrees cooler than the Mediterranean but very much cleaner.

April through June is beautiful here - long days; astonishing wild flowers; quiet and peaceful; low risk of rain; temperatures normally 20-28°C

July and August are 'hot and vibrant' - temperatures 25-35°C+; beaches busier but still with plenty of space; sea warm; Vejer lively and bustling.  NB. August is Feria time in Vejer - with a strong carnival atmosphere and a lot of Spanish visitors. To be sure of an apartment at this time, you must book as early as possible.

September and October are warm, mellow and tranquil - still little if any rain; still long days on the beach; by now, Vejer has settled back into its easy, relaxed pace.

November through March is much quieter - the weather is less predictable, with more chance of rain but still plenty of 'beach days'; excellent time for walking, sightseeing, water sports and golf; still many clear, warm, sunny days but with fresher air and the need for a sweater at night. Because Vejer is a proper working town, most of the bars and restaurants stay open all year round.
